Zayna Iman, A woman who claims she was stripped, drugged and sexually assaulted in police custody has released images showing her half-naked and face down in a cell after she was suspected of having overdosed on drugs. Video footage obtained by her alleged victim Zayna Iman, 38, shows three police officers place her on a mattress and then remove her jeans and cut her underwear. The force said she was given ripstops for welfare reasons.CCTV shows that the officers put her in a pair of custody shorts and left her alone and topless in her cell. Sky News alleges three hours of footage of the 40-hour detention is missing, which Greater Manchester Police have not provided.GMP told MailOnline today that it had lodged a challenge against the report on the grounds that its right of reply had not been respected.The force said there was currently no evidence to suggest any employee had committed a criminal offence.
The force said the statement given to Sky News had been provided over a week ago and explained that its position was being reviewed by the legal, policy and custody department and is now out of date and potentially factually incorrect.Speaking to Sky News, Ms Iman, who waived her right to anonymity, said: “Instead of providing medical attention to an unconscious woman, they thought: ‘I know we’re going to take her clothes off and leave her there.'”It’s just something the police do for their own perverse pleasures.Police officers entered Ms. Iman’s home in the early morning of February 5, 2021 as part of a social assistance call for a woman high on cocaine. She was later arrested after removing the glasses from a police officer’s face.In the next 40 hours, she was taken away and held at a police station.Her allegation of sexual abuse of her is supported by medical records showing evidence of sexual assault, Sky News reported.

Woman claims she was ‘stripped, drugged and sexually assaulted in custody
Former GMP chief superintendent Martin Harding, who saw the available footage, told the broadcaster that he believes Ms Iman was raped.He said: ‘I think she was raped by an officer and I think the organization is covering it up.“They leave her face down with her hands behind her back when they suspect she overdosed on drugs, so where is her duty of care? I don’t see any duty of care at all,” he added.The police force said that Ms. Iman had been given ripstops for welfare reasons, but Ms. Iman claims that she “was not at risk of suicide at the time.The Sky News investigation claims to have found three gaps in the images provided.This included the time between Ms. Iman’s arrest and her transfer to a police van at 1:59 a.m. m. her before being taken to the police station, a ten minute drive away, and taken unconscious to her cell at 3:26 a.m.She is carried by three female police officers, with a male officer standing near the cell door before disappearing. A fourth officer then conducts what Iman called a strip search of her.
Mr Harding claims that there was “no justification whatsoever” for the alleged strip search and that there is nothing in the custody record to explain why it was carried out.The second gap in the footage reportedly occurs between 9:49 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. the next morning. She is last seen distraught, throwing a mug across the room before showing up over an hour later, “acting weird and sexual”, according to her Sky.The investigation found that the third missing section arrives around 1 p.m. m. the next day, where she is naked looking directly at the camera before she cuts out for another hour. Around 8:00 p.m. that day, she is given a tracksuit before leaving the cell. She went straight to the hospital where a medical report reportedly said she was “admitted with an acute psychotic episode” that resolved without treatment. She also added that “this is most likely a drug related to ‘the date rape drug that led to a sexual assault. Ms. Iman has questioned why the force has withheld the images. “You will not part with the very images that could prove or disprove my accusations,” she added.
A GMP spokesperson told Sky: “Greater Manchester Police are committed to providing exceptional service to all those the force comes into contact with.” If service is shown to have fallen below an acceptable level, the force apologizes and takes appropriate action. ‘GMP is aware that these three people are not happy with the service they received when they were arrested and detained; your complaints have been or are being investigated by the force.Though one investigation is ongoing, there is currently no evidence to suggest any GMP employees have misconducted themselves or committed a criminal offence. ‘Under the definition within the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, two of these individuals were not strip searched. Due to concerns for their welfare, their clothing was removed and replaced with anti-rip garments – this process is subject to different legislation and guidance.’ The force did not comment on the missing footage. A statement from the force is expected later today.
