Yousef Abu Jaber, 45, of Kafr Qassem, was the terrorist who carried out the deadly car-ramming incident in Tel Aviv.
According to emergency authorities, a 30-year-old male was killed and five tourists were injured in a gunshot and ramming attack on Tel Aviv’s coastal promenade on Friday night. The assailant was shot and killed. He was recognized by police as Yousef Abu Jaber of the Israeli Arab city of Kafr Qasem. Alessandro Parini, 36, was named as the victim by the Italian Foreign Ministry.
According to police, the attacker drove southbound on the bike lane on Tel Aviv’s beach promenade at 21:35, hitting six persons before collapsing on the grass of Charles Clore Park. At this point, a police officer and a municipal ranger arrived on the scene, and when they observed the attacker reaching for a rifle-like weapon he was carrying, they shot at him and killed him. According to a police source, a toy gun was discovered in Jaber’s truck rather than a firearm.
Three persons, including a 74-year-old male, a 39-year-old guy, and a 17-year-old girl, are in fair condition. The other two victims, a man in his fifties and a woman in her seventies were both lightly injured. Some of those killed are British and Italian nationals. A police officer and a civilian inspector each shot the assailant.

“We cannot believe he did such a thing, it’s inconceivable that Yusef, a very quiet and respectful person, would do it,” a relative of the assailant told Haaretz. We are very shocked, and if we had known ahead of time that he would do it, we would have avoided it. He never displayed any radical tendencies, and he has no ideological background.” The assailant was married and has five daughters. According to the Islamic Jihad, the incident is a “natural and legitimate response to the crimes of the occupation against the Palestinian people,” and it occurred on the one-year anniversary of the terror attack at a bar on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv.

Magen Yosef Kurdi, a David Adom physician who arrived first on the site, told Haaretz that he found an overturned automobile and a 17-year-old girl laying next to it, fully conscious and bruised. He discovered the 30-year-old victim nearby and proclaimed him dead. He was killed by ramming, not gunfire, according to authorities. Georgia Meloni, Italy’s Prime Minister, expressed “deep sorrow and condolences” for the loss of an Italian national in the “terrorist attack that took place in the evening in Tel Aviv,” and stated she stands in “solidarity with the State of Israel for the cowardly attack that hit them.” “The [Italian] government is in contact with Israeli authorities and is investigating the possibility of other Italian citizens being involved in the attack,” the prime minister stated.

Earlier in the day, two British-Israeli girls were slain in a West Bank shooting incident that also gravely injured their mother.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed that security forces be beefed up to combat the rising number of terrorist assaults, according to his office.
