Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin is feared dead after it was reported he was on a plane that crashed in Russia tonight, two months after his failed coup attempt against Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a video, the plane is seen falling from the sky in the Bologovsky district of the Tver region. The burning remains were later seen in a field. It was initially unknown if Wagner’s boss Prigozhin, known as Putin’s chef and with long-standing ties to the Kremlin dictator, was on board, but it has since been reported that the passenger list included his name. A report by Rosaviatsiya, the Russian aviation agency, said Prigozhin was among the passengers, but despite AfP initially confirming the death, the exact identities of those killed are now reportedly unknown. Russian authorities have said a commercial plane crash in Russia killed 10 people and that mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin was on the passenger list. Witnesses to the crash heard a loud bang before the plane “fell out of the sky.” Prigozhin, 62, had led a coup against the Putin regime exactly two months ago.

Former Russian presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak said: ‘My sources report that an Embraer plane belonging to Yevgeny Prigozhin has crashed in the Tver region. ‘This happened 15 kilometers from Khotilovo. According to our information, there were three crew members and seven passengers. “It is unknown whether Prigozhin himself was on board.” Sobchak is known as Putin’s “goddaughter”. A local woman said that parts of the plane fell off as it fell from the sky. Progozhin had been warned against entering tall buildings for fear of accidents after leading a coup aimed at ousting notably Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and army chief General Valery Gerasimov. It is known that he used body doubles as part of his elaborate security measures.
