Wayne Peckham, a father, and his son Riley Peckham were convicted for the murder of his wife’s new boyfriend, acting “in jealous rage, like a pack of animals.” Wayne, 48, and Riley, 23, assaulted Matthew Rodwell with punches, kicks, and stamps. Both men were sentenced to life in prison at Norwich Crown Court, with Mr. Peckham serving a minimum of 24 years and Riley Peckham serving a minimum of 18 years.
Mr Rodwell, 39, was romantically involved with Wayne’s wife, Kerry Peckham, Riley Peckham’s mother. On 23 January last year, two guys broke into her property in Bulrush Close in Downham Market, Norfolk, and repositioned CCTV cameras. ‘You will perish.’ Mr Rodwell took cover upstairs and dialled 911. Riley Peckham and Mr Rodwell were fighting upstairs, while Kerry was attempting to control Wayne Peckham downstairs. Mr Rodwell, on the other hand, wound up at the bottom of the stairs, where the attack continued, and when police arrived, they discovered him gravely injured. He died at the site, with Wayne Peckham being detained instantly and Riley Peckham being apprehended two hours later at a relative’s house after fleeing the scene in handcuffs. Both males, of Manby Close in Hilgay, denied murder but were convicted guilty after an earlier trial at Norwich Crown Court, according to Norfolk Police. ‘I’m no longer a threat to anyone else.’
“Wayne and Riley acted in jealous rage, like a pack of animals,” said Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Chris Burgess of the Major Investigation Team. “The sentences passed today mean they can no longer be a danger to anyone else.” Wayne Peckham was also convicted of two charges of assault causing real bodily injury in connection with an earlier assault on another man in Downham Market in December 2021. Riley Peckham was found guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm in connection with the same incident. Wayne Peckham was also found guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm to Mrs. Peckham on January 23, last year.
