Veronica Youngblood Wiki – Bio

Veronica Youngblood, 37, a Virginia woman accused of fatally shooting her two daughters, was found guilty of both murders Wednesday.

Veronica Youngblood was accused of killing Sharon Castro, 15, and Brooklynn Youngblood, 5, on Aug. 5, 2018, at her McLean home. She had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, The Washington Post reported. This case goes way beyond just having a mental illness,” Fairfax County Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Kelsey Gill said during closing arguments, according to the Post. “This is way beyond depression. This is way beyond PTSD. This is way beyond being suicidal.” Prosecutors argued that Youngblood murdered her children to get revenge on her ex-husband, who was allegedly scheduled to move out of state with Brooklynn, the Post reported.

Jurors also found Youngblood guilty of weapons charges. Her lawyer could not be reached for comment.
