Investigation
A report of gunshots in the neighborhood prompted police to be dispatched to Sheetz at 1485 North Cassady Avenue. Columbus police located the hospital where Sobnosky later died of his injuries. The three people who took him to the hospital informed the police that the shooting took place at the gas station. Sobnosky, a Youngstown native, was in Columbus with the other men from out of town, according to CPD Major Crimes Office Commander Mark Denner, who made the statement in early November. Denner reported that Sobnosky graduated at the top of his class at Girard High School and on the dean’s list at Youngstown State University.
At the scene, where there were apparently several shots fired, the police discovered 20 bullet casings. During the ongoing investigation, CPD listed up to 12 people as possible witnesses. Eight people with semi-automatic rifles allegedly came out of the gas station, sparking a shootout, according to police. On Friday, Tyyuan Sullivan is due to be arraigned.
