Tristan Heidl, a bank robbery suspect in Huron, Ohio, was arrested early Wednesday morning after falling into a recycling bin while trying to escape a robbery. According to the Huron Police Department, officers responded to an alarm at the VacationLand Federal Credit Union around 2 a.m., according to CNN. Huron Police Chief Terry Graham told Fox News officers heard noises coming from inside the roof above the bank’s drive-thru and noticed a blue recycling bin placed directly below. Body camera footage captured by HPD showed officers waiting for the suspect to fall from the roof in order to apprehend him.

Bank robbery suspect drops out of ceiling and into recycling bin before he’s arrested
CNN identified the suspect as 27-year-old Tristan Heidl, adding that he was carrying a bag full of construction tools, according to authorities. “He was cooperative once he was arrested,” Graham told Fox News. “He answered the officers’ questions honestly, and simply said that he was screwed.” Graham added that Heidl used the recycling bin for support and entered the bank through the access door on the roof. The Huron Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. Heidl was charged with trespassing, possession of criminal tools, and theft from safes, according to CNN. ABC 7 reported that Heidl was previously held in the Erie County Jail. Huron Police Chief Terry Graham told CNN that Heidl canceled his preliminary hearing on Friday and that his case will go to a grand jury in Erie County Magistrate Court in Sandusky, Ohio. Graham also told the outlet that Heidl is now on $50,000 bail.
