Toraze Dennis, Johnnie Mae Dennis’s new husband, died while taking wedding photos outside their wedding location in Omaha, Nebraska, on Monday. We were in the church and it was a beautiful ceremony. It was the happiest day of Toraze’s life,’ Jewel Robeson, a friend of the bride, told KETV. Another of Johnnie Mae’s friends, Monica Miller, said it was the happiest day of Toraze’s life: ‘I could just see the smile on his face and how happy he was.’ At 4.35 pm, just an hour after the ceremony began, Toraze’s heart stopped. At just 48, he suffered a fatal blood loss due to a blood clot, leaving his new wife a devastated widow on their wedding day. It happened within seconds,’ said Robeson, who was in attendance alongside the couple’s children, their family and friends.

Miller added in an appeal for donations on GoFundMe: ‘Both Johnnie Mae and Toraze planned on living the rest of their lives together. Unfortunately, Toraze gave his last breath shortly after saying “I Do”. All our hearts are aching for Johnnie Mae and her children.’ Robeson said Johnnie Mae’s friends are now are trying to help the grieving widow cope with losing the love of her life after she has ‘suffered through so much’. She added that the newlywed has dedicated her life to helping the most vulnerable members in her community via her work in a care network for the elderly and disabled. She’s been widowed and married in a 10-minute span,’ Robeson said and appealed for donations for Johnnie Mae to aid her with funeral expenses as well as tasks like lawn mowing, snow removal and others in the coming months while she is grieving. Miller added: ‘We really want to stress that we want to be able to take care of her.’ Another friend of Johnnie Mae’s, Tonja Ross, said Toraze’s tragic death should serve as a reminder to take one’s health seriously: ‘It is important to keep being active in your health, so your happiest day does not turn into the most devastating day of your life or your loved ones’ life.’
