Tony Bennett, the legendary pop and jazz vocalist, died at the age of 96. Known for his performances with singers from Frank Sinatra to Lady Gaga, Bennett has sold millions of records worldwide and won 20 Grammy Awards, including a lifetime achievement award, throughout his career. One of America’s last great singers, Bennett released his first album in 1952 when he was in his early 20s and it hit the US charts in every subsequent decade of his life.

Master pop vocalist died at the age of 96
He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016 and went public five years later. His positivity was made clear in a reworking of one of his famous quotes shared on his social media accounts: “Life is a gift, even with Alzheimer’s disease.” He went on to perform his final shows, alongside Lady Gaga, later that year. Sinatra himself once described Bennett as “the best singer in the business” in a 1965 interview. The legendary singer always called Bennett “boy,” even in old age.
