Taylen Mosley, the body of a missing two-year-old boy was found inside the mouth of an alligator after his mother was found stabbed to death in her apartment.
Taylen Mosley, of St. Petersburg, Florida, was reported missing Thursday after his mother, 20-year-old Pashun Jeffery, was found dead in her Lincoln Shores apartment of stab wounds. On Friday night, Taylen was found dead inside the mouth of an alligator in Dell Holmes Park, about 10 miles from his mother’s home. Officers confirmed that he was the boy after killing the animal. A medical examiner is determining his cause of death. We didn’t want to find it this way, but at least now we can give that family some closure,” said Police Chief Anthony Holloway. “We’re sorry it had to end this way.” Taylen’s father, Thomas Mosley, 21, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Police announced that he was a “person of interest” after locating him in hopes of finding Taylen, who was not in his custody at the time. Thomas had been admitted to the hospital and was said to be covered in cuts on his arms and hands, according to NBC News. Until Friday, he remains in the hospital, the police chief said. Thomas did not speak to investigators. Holloway said: ‘The father doesn’t speak to us.’
Family members saw the mother and son Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. m. and requested a wellness check the next day after they were unable to contact her. Neighbors said they heard a loud commotion near the apartment around 8:30 p.m. but did not call the police. Shortly after the commotion at the apartment, Thomas showed up at his mother’s house covered in cuts. The next morning, Pashun’s mother called the apartment manager for a welfare check after her daughter missed her daily FaceTime call and was found dead by an employee. Holloway described the crime scene as “very violent”. The apartment door was closed when the employee arrived. Pashun, who worked at CVS, and Taylen had recently moved into the apartment, according to WGXA. Taylen had just celebrated his second birthday 19 days before he was found dead. The boy’s family called him Tay-Tay and said he loved PB&J and would call his mother when she took a break from work, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
