Tatiana ‘Tania’ Dokhotaru was found dead inside a Sydney apartment and her partner was arrested after police spent nearly 24 hours looking for her body after receiving an anonymous tip about a domestic fight.
Tatiana ‘Tania’ Dokhotaru, 34, was discovered dead by police at 8 p.m. on Saturday in a unit of a big apartment tower on Norfolk St in Liverpool, southwest Sydney. Around 11.45 p.m. on Friday, police got an anonymous phone call concerning an apparent domestic fight at the apartment complex.
However, when they arrived a little over three hours later, they couldn’t find the apartment in the almost 300-unit building. Police were summoned back to the Liverpool unit block at 8 p.m. on Saturday, where they discovered Ms. Dokhotaru’s body. She’d sustained significant head injuries. Her partner, Danny Zayat, was detained and taken to Liverpool Police Station for questioning, as was a four-year-old child. The youngster is assumed to be Ms. Dokhotaru.

Zayat is suspected of violating an AVO. He was charged with stalking/intimidating with the intent to cause fear, physical danger, or other harm (DV), violating a prohibition/restriction under AVO (DV), and destroying or damaging property (DV). According to 10 News First, Zayat will be charged with murder. According to 9News, the anonymous phone contact was made by Ms Dokhotaru herself. However, it was classified as less urgent, which is why it took the police three hours to locate the residence.
However, it is unknown why it took them 20 hours to find it. The police department has begun a critical incident inquiry into the delay, which will be evaluated independently. According to court documents, police allege a domestic dispute occurred between 10 a.m. and 11.59 p.m. on Friday between Zayat and Ms. Dokhotaru. During this moment, Zayat allegedly broke Ms. Dokhotaru’s television to injure her.
Zayat appeared briefly in Parramatta Release Court on Sunday, when he made no application for release and was officially denied, before being directed to return to Liverpool Local Court on Monday. It is believed that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with Ms. Dokhotaru’s death. She ran a handbag rental business called Personal Lux Goods and had recently set up a new Instagram account alongside the caption: ‘New page, actions reveal why words hold no weight’.
