Police said two persons are in jail following the death of 36-year-old Tania Murphy and three children in a deadly vehicle accident in the state’s south.
Around 11.15 p.m. on Tuesday, Yanco in the state’s Riverina region received a call from emergency services regarding claims that a Hyundai Getz had struck a pole. The vehicle suddenly lost control and plunged onto its roof into a water channel.
Before rescue personnel could arrive, Murphy and three boys, ages 10, 11, and 12, all passed away at the site. Murrumbidgee Police District has developed a crime scene. Just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, detectives started an investigation and made inquiries at a unit in Griffith.

Friend statement after the accident
Rod Daley, a friend, told the Herald that the news had crushed him. He had known the dead wife and the boys for around ten years. He added that the woman also had a young daughter. I’ve been acquainted with the family for a very long time. Simply put, you don’t anticipate anything like this, he added.
“I just want to send my condolences to [the family],” Tony Reneker, the mayor of Leeton, claimed that the town of around 10,000 people was in ruins.
He described it as a stunning feeling of hopelessness and incredulity. Any deadly accident is tragic, but four fatalities in one car are absolutely incomprehensible,” the witness said.
Local MP Helen Dalton wrote on Facebook that she was thinking about the people of Leeton Shire.
“During the past two years, the Easter holiday weekend has seen seven traffic deaths. This year, we want to lower that number,” she said.
