Steven Dean Wiki – Steven Dean Biography
Steven Dean, 37, a Perth man detained in connection with his partner’s untimely death allegedly crashed his car shortly after before wandering into a nearby stranger’s home and attempting to self-harm.
Police took Steven Dean into custody for questioning on Berwick Street in St James at about 8.30 pm on Monday, 45 minutes after his partner, Emmerich Lasaker, 35, was discovered inside their Kewdale house with serious injuries. Dean has not been charged with anything.
Lasaker was given first aid by police and St John Ambulance before being taken to Royal Perth Hospital, where she died. A neighbor living near the Knutsford Avenue house was in tears as she told Nine News Perth she heard screams coming from the household where two young girls lived. According to WA Police, the youngsters were there at the time of the event. A boy who lived on the same street said he recognized the kids from school and saw them crying on the street shortly after the alleged incident.
Police said they were also looking into “a possible link” between Lasaker’s death and an armed robbery at a service station on the corner of Kent and Berwick Streets in East Victoria Park a short time later. Dean then allegedly crashed his car, a grey Ford Ranger Raptor dual-cab utility, on Berwick Street, near the intersection with Emily Street in St James, before fleeing to a nearby house, according to police.
Steven Dean is 37 years old.
Kewdale, Perth: The alleged homicide of the mother after a young child made a desperate phone call to the police
Shane and Shaun Lowe of St James stated the impact of the crash shook their house. “I reckon he was doing 140km/h, easy,” Shane estimated. There was no pause, no screech, nothing.” Just a massive bang. It’s the first time I’ve heard anything like it. I prepared myself because I expected it to come through the house. “When I came out, all I saw was steam and smoke coming off the tree, and I just saw the Raptor do its last flip, so he must have gotten airborne.”
The couple then witnessed the driver get out of the vehicle and wobble across the road, yelling about his eyes. Another neighbor pulled the driver inside her home to wipe his eyes out over the sink, where he allegedly attempted suicide. He came in and shouted, ‘Help, help, my eyes,’ and she took him to the kitchen sink to wash his eyes, and then he grabbed a knife and said, ‘Is their kids here because they’re not going to like what they see,” Shane explained. And she told him, ‘Please just leave,’ and he dashed out the back.”
Dean was then arrested and allegedly tasered multiple times by police. On Tuesday, he remained in the hospital under police guard, in a stable condition, with injuries believed to be the result of the automobile accident. There have been no charges filed.
On Tuesday, homicide investigators and forensic officers were inspecting the Kewdale residence where the event occurred, paying special attention to vehicles parked in front of the house, the front yard, and the mailbox. Detectives are looking for details about the man’s movements between Kewdale and St James.
