Steve Drummond, a fantastic man in the racing community , died on May 15, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He had always been interested in racing and tinkering with automobiles.
He began developing race vehicles in the late 1980s and continued to do so for the rest of his life. He was involved in all phases of automobile construction, from chassis and engine fabrication to designing and testing turbo systems. Steve was a talented engineer who was always looking for methods to improve the speed and performance of his vehicles.
Apart from his car-building activities, Steve was a well-liked member of his community. He was a loving spouse, a proud father of two, and a devoted friend to many. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. He would engage in casual banter with fellow racers and pit crew members whenever he was at the track. He was regarded for being both competitive and courteous, always willing to assist people in need.

Cause of Death
Steve and his family were devastated when he was diagnosed with B cell lymphoma. He had chemotherapy and CAR-T cell therapy, but neither treatment was effective in eradicating the cancer. Steve’s death left a huge void in the racing scene. His friends and coworkers mourned the passing of a gifted and generous man. His legacy as a competent mechanic and ardent racer will continue to inspire and influence future generations of automobile enthusiasts.

According to Austin West, “I can’t believe it, I can’t wrap my head around it all.” Steve, you were one of a kind, so talented, hardworking, honest, a true friend, and you loved your family more than anything. There wasn’t a birthday that he didn’t text you, there wasn’t a Christmas that he didn’t get the family over for a Christmas party, and every New Year’s Day he would always take family and friends karting. Thank you for all of the memories, thank you for all of your guidance, and thank you for all of your work with my truck, which has helped me have one of the quickest OBS trucks around. If you haven’t heard of Steve Drummond, you aren’t as into automobiles and speed as you think you are. Steve, I adore you.
Jordan Haddock stated, “We lost a great one today.” I’m grateful to have been a part of the DRC team. He always made an effort to make everyone feel included. Even when things were frantic at the race, he would always make Ella feel special. Those are precious moments that speak to the man he was and continues to be in our hearts.
