Stephanie Bissonnette Broadway Dancer, known for her appearance in Mean Girls the Musical has died at 32. The official Mean Girls of Broadway account confirmed her death with a statement. Bissonnette was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2019. She later underwent radiation treatments and had the tumor removed. However, her official cause of death has yet to be announced.

Stephanie Bissonnette can currently be seen as Dawn Schweitzer in Mean Girls on Broadway. Other credits include The Muny, Riverside Theatre, Shakespeare Theater Company, and Seven Angels Theatre. She also appeared in music videos, including Keith Urban’s Never Comin’ Down. Stephanie graduated with a BA in Dance Performance from the Point Park University Conservatory of Performing Arts. She traveled the world while performing with Royal Caribbean. Proud to graduate from BDC’s Professional Semester in 2010, She considered BDC her second home in New York City.

Mean Girls Broadway took to its official Twitter account to announce the tragic news on Sunday. “Our hearts are broken as the Mean Girls community mourns the loss of Stephanie Bissonnette,” the tweet read.

“Our original Dawn Sweitzer, Stephanie, was a part of our Broadway company from our first performance to our last. She filled our theater with her laughter and friendship, she inspired us with her fighting spirit and fearlessness, and she graced our stage with the fiercest talent Broadway has ever known.” Our thoughts and prayers are with family, friends, and the entire Mean Girls community during this time. We will miss her dearly and encourage everyone to do something they love today in Stephanie’s honor.

Bissonnette attended the Point Park University Conservatory of Performing Arts and began acting with Royal Caribbean. She eventually moved to New York and began her career as a dance teacher and choreographer. In 2018, she auditioned for Mean Girls and was selected for the role of Dawn Schweitzer. She continued with the show until theaters closed due to Covid-19 in 2020. Bissonnette has also choreographed a few shows for The Muny, Shakespeare Theater Company, Riverside Theater, and Seven Angels Theatre.
