Shaye Groves Wiki – Bio

Shaye Groves, 27, had framed photos of serial killers on her walls, collected books about gangsters, and was an avid watcher of true crime documentaries.

A woman who is obsessed with serial killers has been found guilty of murdering her on-again-off-again boyfriend, whom she stabbed to death after using tips from true crime documentaries to plan her alibi. Groves was convicted at Winchester Crown Court of slitting the throat of 25-year-old Frankie Fitzgerald before stabbing him 17 times in the chest in July last year after trying to present herself as his victim.

The five-week trial heard that the couple shared a mutual interest in BDSM and a camera was installed in the defendant’s bedroom at her home in Havant, Hampshire, to record them having sex. Groves had framed photos of serial killers on her walls, collected books on gangsters, including notorious prisoner Charles Bronson, and was an avid observer of true crime documentaries.

Steven Perian KC, the prosecutor, told jurors that Groves acted out of jealousy after discovering that her victim had been messaging a 13-year-old girl on Facebook. Her sex life involved bondage, domination, submission, and masochism – BDSM for short,” she said. “It is very likely that she was obsessed with Frankie Fitzgerald because of his performance in the bedroom. “It is highly likely that the murder of Frankie Fitzgerald is a crime of passion fueled by her jealousy.”

Perian said Groves used her knowledge of true crime shows to present himself to her friend, Vicky Baitup, as a victim of Fitzgerald’s sexual assault. He sent the friend videos of the couple having sex edited to look like rape, but prosecutors say the original video revealed it was consensual sex. Perian added: “Where would the defendant have gotten the information to plan the details of the attack and make it look like she was the victim of an assault? The defendant has many gangster books like Charles Bronson in her library.”

She has framed photos of serial killers on the wall and watches murder documentaries. The Crown says the defendant, from reading and watching murder documentaries, was familiar with crime scenes, how to create a false narrative and how to establish a false alibi. She deliberately created a false narrative of being abused by Frankie Fitzgerald, a false alibi that she sent to Vicky Baitup and was cleaning up the crime scene after viewing these documentaries.”

After the conviction, the jury was also told that Groves had been selling cannabis. The judge, Justice Kerr, adjourned the case for sentencing on Wednesday, February 22. He told the jurors: “It remains for me to thank you from the court for the dedication and work you have done on this case.”
