Sean Rivera, a Pennsylvania man has been charged with several felonies, including kidnapping and criminal homicide. He is suspected of administering a fentanyl overdose to his 72-year-old mother, taking her to Philadelphia, and then shooting her many times. Sean Rivera, 28, lived in the Falls Township neighborhood of Morrisville with his mother, Carol Clark. According to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, the investigation began with a rumored domestic dispute between Rivera and his brother about their mother’s whereabouts.
Rivera called his brother in New York on Sunday morning to alert him that their mother had died, but he refused to say where she was when he arrived. Falls Township police were notified, and they promptly issued a missing person alert WPVI reported on Clark. Rivera’s brother stated his concerns to detectives since his mother had mobility issues and was unable to leave the house alone. According to the Inquirer, he stated that because it was her birthday on Sunday and she had arrangements with her family, she was unlikely to modify them at the last minute.

Killed his mother and dumped her body in a storage shed in Philly

Rivera mixed fentanyl in his mother’s iced tea on Saturday night, leaving her “conscious but lethargic,” according to detectives. Rivera is accused of driving Clark to a shed near a behavioral center in Philadelphia’s Frankford neighborhood between 2 and 3 a.m. on Sunday.
According to reports, Rivera used bolt cutters to cut padlocks, placed his mother inside, and then shot her several times. According to investigators, he then closed the shed and locked it with a padlock he purchased. Rivera’s residence and vehicle were also searched. Two weapons, a Home Depot receipt, a padlock, and an empty padlock package were allegedly discovered by detectives. Inside the truck, a set of bolt cutters was also discovered. Clark’s body was located in the shed at about 1:00 a.m. on Monday, and the shed was unlocked using a key obtained from Rivera. Rivera faces criminal homicide, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and additional charges. It is unclear if he has entered a plea or retained legal counsel. The inquiry is still underway, and additional information is anticipated to be released in the following weeks.
