Sean Day, 29, fell off an embankment and into the River Wye near Victoria Bridge in Hereford in the early hours of Saturday morning, West Mercia Police said. Police, West Mercia Search and Rescue Service and Hereford and Worcestershire Fire Service continue to search the river for Mr Day after being called at 12:05am. Three men who were arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident have been released on police bail while detectives continue to investigate. The men, ages 34, 28 and 24, were arrested Saturday night when officers’ investigations established that Mr. Day had allegedly been involved in an “altercation.”

Mr. Day’s family is still holding out hope that he is alive, with Caitlin Potts writing on Facebook today: ‘Please come home Sean, they all need you! You have no idea how loved you are by so many! Please! Just come home! We need you home safe! But some friends have already been paying tribute to Mr. Day under the assumption that he is dead, with Kai Pullen saying: ‘Rest easy Sean Day, you will be missed by many mates, the absolute life of the party, you still can’t believe what has passed. Added Scott King: “Absolutely devastated to hear this, such a top lad and always went out of his way to see people happy and enjoy life.” Another brother who will be missed but never forgotten. Until we meet again Sean Day, great love, I will miss you. But Beth Louise wrote a direct appeal to Mr. Day, saying: ‘Sean Day, if there’s a way you can see this, we were promised forever and I’m still here. You’re more loved than anyone I’ve ever known, believe it, if this is just some crazy Sean Day fling everyone wants you back now please.” Officers are now calling for anyone in the Quay Street or Castle Green area of Hereford between 10:30 p.m. m. and 12:30 a.m. m. last Friday who saw or heard a disturbance or a person in danger near the riverbank please contact them.

Detective Inspector Mark Walters said: “As our investigations continue, we are anxious to hear from anyone who was in the area late on Friday night and shortly after midnight on Saturday morning, in particular, anyone who has witnessed or heard a disturbance near the riverbank.’
