Author Salman Rushie has lost the sight in one of his eyes and the use of one of his hands, according to a report.
His agent told Spain’s El Pais that the injuries are the result of the attack he suffered while preparing to give a lecture in New York in August.
“[His injuries] were deep, but [he] also lost sight in one eye… He had three serious injuries to his neck. One hand is disabled because the nerves in his arm were severed. And he has about 15 more injuries to his arm. chest and torso. So, it was a brutal attack,” said Andrew Wylie.
Wylie wouldn’t say whether Rushdie was still recovering in the hospital, but instead pointed out the importance of the fact that he is going to live.

Attack
Rushdie, 75, was stabbed to death on stage at the Chautauqua Institution on August 12. He was airlifted to a hospital in northwestern Pennsylvania and underwent surgery.
He suffered liver damage and severed nerves in one arm and one eye.

Hadi Matar has pleaded not guilty to allegedly attacking Rushdie.
Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt reportedly noted that Matar may have been motivated by a $3 million bounty placed on Rushdie by the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini of Iran.
