Ryan Keeler, a lineman for the University of Nevada Las Vegas, died Monday in Las Vegas just after celebrating his first full season with the team.

The school did not provide a cause of death. The student-athlete earned an impressive number of scholarships and transferred from Rutgers to play for the Rebels last year. As the team’s defensive lineman, he played in seven games and totaled eight tackles. He earned his first college firing last October while taking on the Air Force. The budding athlete earned an academic All-Mountain grade with his 3.8 GPA while majoring in pre-business. The UNLV family is mourning the sudden loss of one of our own today,” said UNLV Director of Athletics Erick Harper. Mourning teammates and students took to Ryan’s social media to post their condolences and wish peace to the athlete who left too soon. One of the most genuine guys I’ve ever met and never brought anything but positivity into this world,” one person wrote on his Instagram.

Another heartbroken friend wrote: “Rest in peace Ryan love you, bro.”

Born in Chicago, Keeler graduated from Nazareth Academy.

His former high school also mourned his loss of him on Twitter, saying there were “no words” to describe his passing.
