It’s been nearly two decades since Newcastle woman Roslyn Reay was found stabbed to death in her home. Now, NSW Police have offered a $750,000 reward in hopes of finally finding her killer. Police officers were called to Reay’s home in Laman Street, Cooks Hill, on 3 April 2005 after concerns were raised for her well-being. The 52-year-old woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds. To this day no one has been charged with his murder.
His daughter, Mandii, said the reward had given her hope of finally finding some answers. Mom was such a gentle soul, whose greatest joy came from helping others,” Mandii said. The last 18 years have been extremely challenging for mom’s friends and family, I hope speaking up now will jog someone’s memory and can help us figure out what happened to her.”

Detectives from Strike Force Oro 2 began reinvestigating the murder case in 2021, under the State Crime Command Homicide Squad Unsolved Homicide framework. Roslyn was a much-loved and respected member of the Newcastle community and to have her life cut short in such a violent way came as a shock to the neighborhood,” said the homicide squad commander, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty. Through our investigations with the renewed strike force, we have been reviewing all the evidence collected, including forensic material, to ensure we leave no stone unturned. We hope this bounty may spark the memory of someone who spoke to or associated with Roslyn in March 2005 and may help us piece together her finishing moves.”
