Ronald D. Sever, a man wanted for child pornography and sexual assault, was arrested in Georgia after leading police on a high-speed chase, according to authorities.
Ronald D. Sever of South Carolina was driving over 90 miles per hour on Interstate 59 Thursday trying to outrun the police, the Dade County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook. He was walking away from officers in Alabama and across state lines into Georgia, where more law enforcement officers were waiting for him. The Trenton Police Department assisted in the pursuit and placed spike strips near the road, but the strips did not stop Sever. He then pulled off the interstate where Dade County deputies were waiting for him. He intentionally crashed his vehicle into police cars while he was driving.

Georgia police arrest man accused of sexual assault
Sever continued driving and turned into a gas station parking lot while he was still trying to evade the police. Patrol officers then surrounded his vehicle in the parking lot and he was taken into custody. Agents discovered that Sever had an active felony warrant for his arrest with full extradition out of Virginia Beach, Virginia. The warrant was for a probation violation and the original charges related to the production of child pornography, failure to comply with Virginia sex offense laws, and the sexual assault of two girls.
The Dade County Sheriff’s Office charged Sever with felony fleeing/eluding, aggravated assault on a police officer, speeding, reckless driving, failing to obey a stop sign, and driving with a suspended license. He is also being held on a warrant in Virginia Beach and the Fort Payne Police Department in Alabama will also have charges or warrants for his arrest.

“We work with neighboring Alabama and Tennessee law enforcement on an almost daily basis and are very fortunate to have such a great working relationship with each of those agencies,” Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross wrote in a statement. shared on Facebook. “We are constantly working together to get drugs, dangerous criminals, and thieves out of our communities, and we won’t stop until everyone is in jail!”
