Authorities are seeking to arrest the boy’s father, Romuan Jovaes Moye, in connection with the boy’s death, which is being investigated as a homicide, according to the criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE. Authorities have said Moye is a suspect. “The body was in a state of extreme malnutrition and emaciation, with moderate decomposition of the body,” the complaint states. Authorities believe the boy died weeks ago, including on Labor Day. Moyes, who police say is currently on the run, faces multiple charges, including three counts of chronic neglect of a child, as well as failure to report the death of a child. The suspect faces up to 82 years in prison and a $45,000 fine if he is convicted, the district attorney’s office said, according to TMJ4 News.

Robinson was one of Moyes’ four children, but the only one who was in his care at the time of his death, the complaint states. Moyes’ other children stayed with his mother when he cared for Robinson, according to the complaint. His 21-year-old son went to see the couple on October 10 after he became concerned when Moyes did not respond to his text messages. “It doesn’t even seem real,” Robinson’s brother Jordan told TMJ4 News. “Just since I got the call and then fast forward to today, I woke up and was really thinking about things like, ‘Damn, my little brother is really gone.'” Jordan attended a memorial vigil for Robinson with his siblings and family Wednesday night. The group released green balloons in tribute to the 12-year-old boy. “I was at work and I got the call and, man, it was traumatizing,” Jordan told Fox 6. “I definitely want answers.
