Robert Henry Gordon, a 58-year-old church music teacher and former school bus driver from Colorado was arrested for suspected sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy. Authorities stated Thursday that Robert Henry Gordon was arrested and charged with one count each of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, sexual assault on a child, unlawful sexual contact, and enticing of a minor. The arrest occurred only a few days after law enforcement was contacted. Gordon’s investigation began on April 10, according to a press statement from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. According to authorities, the 14-year-old accused victim’s parents were browsing through his mobile when they discovered “inappropriate text messages between their child and the suspect.”

Colorado Springs music teacher and bus driver arrested on sexual assault charges
The parents called the sheriff’s office right away, and a patrol deputy was dispatched to take down the initial report. This information was passed to detectives of the EPCSO’s Special Victim’s Unit, who launched their investigation into the claims, including having the claimed victim sit for a forensic interview about his contacts with Gordon. Gordon was arrested by SVU investigators Thursday morning and taken to the sheriff’s office, where he was quizzed about the charges. Gordon was booked into the El Paso County Jail on the charges following the interview.
Gordon is a music teacher at the First United Pentecostal Church in Colorado Springs, according to detectives. Gordon formerly served as a school bus driver for numerous different school districts in El Paso County, according to the press release. According to the Gazette, a local news website, Gordon has already faced similar child s*x abuse allegations in the county on many occasions, some extending back more than two decades. Gordon was reportedly charged with two charges of sexual assault on a child with force and one count of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust while working as a school bus driver in 2001.

Gordon is presently being jailed without bond
Gordon was acquitted on all three charges by a jury in 2001. A victim came forward in August 2011 and stated that he was 12 years old when he met Gordon at a Security-Widefield church in 2001 and was sexually abused by him on multiple occasions. Prosecutors reportedly charged Gordon with one count each of sexual assault on a child with a pattern of sexual abuse and pattern of sexual assault on a child in a position of trust, as well as six counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust with a victim under the age of 15.
According to the Gazette, prosecutors dropped half of the accusations against Gordon before his trial, and a jury acquitted him on the remaining four counts in 2014. Gordon is presently being jailed without bond and is due in court Friday afternoon. The sheriff’s office stressed that the investigation into Gordon is still ongoing and requested anyone with knowledge about the case to call the EPCSO tip line at 719-520-7777. It was unclear whether Gordon had an attorney who could be contacted for comment. The First United Pentecostal Church did not react immediately to a message from Law&Crime regarding Gordon’s employment history and the most recent claims against him.
