Richard Raciak, a Florida man suspected of fatally shooting his fiancée in the back, claimed self-defense. Richard Raciak, 48, of Orlando, was arrested Sunday and charged with first-degree murder with a firearm in the shooting death of Allison Marie Sheehan, 46. WFTV reported that the sheriff’s office received a call regarding a shooting at 12:40 a.m. EDT. According to the site, when they arrived, they saw a woman who had been shot. Allison Sheehan was brought to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Raciak and Sheehan had been together for about eight years, according to family members.

Raciak remained at the scene after the shooting, according to an arrest document. He allegedly told his father that Sheehan was shot in self-defense.’ Raciak allegedly told deputies that he and Sheehan had been arguing and that the victim ‘came at’ him. He also allegedly indicated that he was afraid the woman would ‘claw his eyes out.’ Raciak allegedly told deputies that he wanted to shoot Sheehan in the leg so she would ‘relax,’ according to the news station. Raciak acknowledged to shooting the woman four times with her back to him, according to the arrest document. According to the affidavit, Raciak allegedly stated in a text message, “I had to put her down, self-defense was the only choice I had.” ‘I’m waiting for the cops.’ According to internet records, Raciak was arrested and brought to the Orange County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
