Rebecca Kracke Gordon, a popular figure on social media for her culinary and entertaining advice, has died. Gordon died suddenly on Sunday at the age of 50.
Gordon, the proprietor of Buttermilk Lipstick, a cooking and entertainment website, and business, published two cookbooks and expertly disseminated recipes and tailgate advice. Her cooking courses appealed to both the novice seeking to impress and the experienced searching for some new ideas. Brian Pope, a former WBRC Fox 6 reporter, said she arrived at Tapings with enough food to serve the entire team. Gordon “had just the absolute best, bubbly personality,” he said.

Buttermilk Lipstick founder, dead at 50, ‘A beautiful soul’
WVTM 13’s Rick Karle described her as a “beautiful soul who was upbeat and kind.” “Rebecca could take a chicken wing and a piece of bread and turn it into a masterpiece,” Karle wrote in a Facebook tribute to her late sister. “After the show, my wife would always look forward to me bringing home some of her leftovers and her written recipes.” Gordon, a Mountain Brook High School graduate, attended the University of Alabama and earned a bachelor’s degree in culinary arts from Johnson and Wales University.
Gordon spent 13 years with Southern Living as a recipe demonstration presenter as part of the brand’s cooking school program after working as a pastry chef. During that period, she appeared on television, radio, print, and the Internet, and she was the first reporter to cover SEC Media Days from a lifestyle perspective. In addition, she co-hosted Southern Living’s Tailgate Playbook on the Great American Country channel in 2012. She offered recipes on Buttermilk Lipstick and later created The Provisions, an internet business. Her spouse, Marrow Gordon, survives her.
