Rashad Maleek Trice, a suspect in the kidnapping of 2-year-old Wynter Cole-Smith, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of physical and sexual assault against his ex-girlfriend and Wynter’s mother. Trice was arrested in St. Clair Shores early Monday morning, but Wynter was nowhere to be found. He has been silent on Wynter’s whereabouts. Ingham County Prosecutor John J. Dewane sent out a news release about the charges, which are assault with intent to murder, two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, trespassing in the first degree, unlawful imprisonment, second felony aggravated domestic violence, illegal driving away from a car, and criminal assault. Trice was also charged as a fourth violent habitual offender.

Rashad Trice Arrested: Wynter Cole-Smith is still missing and accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend
No charges have been filed in Wynter’s disappearance, and police and the FBI are searching for her. “While police continue to search for Wynter Cole-Smith, our office urges our community to report anything out of the ordinary and resist the spread of inaccurate information,” the statement said. “Anyone who knowingly hinders this investigation could face criminal charges.”

“Our thoughts are with the Wynter family and our entire community,” Dewane said in the statement. “It’s time to bring Wynter home and hold those involved in her disappearance accountable.” Trice’s next court dates in the assault case are July 13 and 20. He is being held without bail.
