Rachel Schwartz,33, a Florida mother and Iraq War veteran who went missing told her father she was afraid of her ex-boyfriend and was considering a protection order, according to a report.
Rachel was last seen in Spring Hill, approximately 50 miles north of Tampa, on January 31, Fox News reported. On the same day, she was seen leaving her ex John Scorah’s house with her suitcases in doorbell camera footage captured at 5:46 p.m. In that video a man can be heard saying “Rachel, I have everything you need, please stay one more day,” according to the Daily Mail. Schwartz then checked into a veterans crisis center.
“My sister has been missing since January 31,” her sister, Elizabeth Schrupp, wrote on Facebook. “She was supposed to fly home on February 4th. The last message from her to my dad was that she wanted to come home and that she was afraid of her ex ”.

The father of her two children, a different man than Scorah, filed a missing persons report in Hernando County, according to the outlet. Schwartz’s phone and social media accounts have been inactive since she last spoke to her relatives, further raising fears for her safety. According to Schwartz’s brother-in-law, the missing mother has a tempestuous relationship with Scorah. He had been bailed out of jail by Schwartz in April 2022 on an assault charge, but prosecutors later dropped the case, Fox reported.
The veteran, who suffers from PTSD, moved to her home state of Minnesota to be close to her family and distance herself from Scorah, according to the report. She returned to Florida last month to visit her two children, who reside with her father, but at one point she traveled to see her ex-boyfriend. Schwartz was last seen at a rental home owned by an owner who provides housing for troubled veterans. “She’s missing,” Schrupp told Fox. “We want her to know that we love her and care about her.”
