Philip Hickman, 41, was caught sleeping at Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Shop in Norman, Oklahoma, on September 9, according to police body camera footage from the reveal. Employees called police around 6 a.m. to report a possible theft after tiles fell from the ceiling and the camera system was damaged, according to News 9. Firefighters can be seen using a ladder to reach the roof and access the man, who pretended to be taking a nap to avoid arrest. “The guy is lying in the rafters, we can’t get him to move or do anything. We had no idea how to get him down,” said one of the lifeguards. Shortly after, Hickman can be seen covered in dust and shirtless after descending the stairs wearing only jeans and a cap. The officers quickly handcuffed the man, who made no comment throughout the ordeal. Hickman politely gives them his personal information before leaving the store. “Just in time for breakfast,” Deatheridge jokes. It is unclear how Hickman entered the building, as there were no signs of forced entry. Police said he caused about $1,000 worth of damage, News 9 reported. Hickman did not steal anything from the store nor was he under the influence of alcohol. Police suspect he just wanted a warm place to sleep. Police are still investigating the incident.
