Paul Bond, 61, a British father died after falling from the second-floor balcony of his Bulgarian holiday home while renovating the property.
Mr. Bond suffered severe head injuries from the fall and slipped into a coma after the July 9 crash. The Bristol builder was unable to recover from his injuries and tragically passed away at Pirogov Hospital on Sunday, his family said. The family will use funds previously earmarked for his treatment to bring him back to the UK. Paul’s daughter Abi wrote on social media: ‘Dad passed away Sunday afternoon. We just want to thank everyone for his kind words, prayers, support, and donations from him, we will be forever grateful. We’ll get Dad home as soon as possible.

British father perishes following mysterious balcony fall from the second floor of vacation property in Bulgaria
Bond, described as “a very dear father, grandfather, son, brother and friend”, had been busy renovating his holiday home when he appears to have fallen from a second-floor balcony. He was found by a friend on the morning of Sunday, July 9, although it was not clear when exactly he had fallen. He was taken to the hospital in a coma due to brain injuries, where he underwent surgery. His daughters, Sophie and Abi, rushed to Bulgaria to be at his bedside, where he had been placed on life support. His condition was described as stable, though he remained on life support and his head injuries were believed to be irreversible, according to the fundraising appeal.
The fundraising effort raised nearly £7,000 which will be used to bring him back to Bristol. Family friend Rebekah Richardson posted on the fundraising page: ‘The family would like to thank everyone who has supported them during this difficult time. This has been greatly appreciated, the money raised will now be used to bring Paul home as soon as possible. We appreciate his respect at this time. Ms. Richardson has known the family for some 18 years and has acted as their spokesperson since the accident. She told the BBC previously: ‘Paul is really a fun-loving guy. He has a huge, huge heart: he is very family oriented and truly loved by everyone he meets.
