Sierra Burgess lives in the apartment above Sylvester’s and says that her three children always played outside with Esteban and Rafael. Burgess and her neighbors said they heard loud noises coming from downstairs Monday night, but she never thought something like this could happen. “Her children from her were very, very good,” Burgess said. “You never heard anything from them. They never caused any trouble or anything.” Burgess watched from her window as officers searched a dumpster for evidence that police said Sylvester tried to pull from her while she cleaned up the crime scene. She said this crime is devastating and they no longer feel safe in her apartment complex. “I want to move. I don’t even want to live here,” Burgess said. “If she’s accused of that, or if she did it on purpose, she literally could have grabbed anyone coming up those stairs and hurt her children.” Officials said Esteban was entering the seventh grade at Harris Middle School and loved to play basketball.
