Paola Nunez Linares, 37, a Texas woman was shot in the head and killed in her car Monday when her husband turned an erratic driver around and the man fired multiple rounds into her vehicle.
Paola Linares and her husband Zane Jones were driving in Hurst, a city that is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, shortly after 9 p.m. Monday when he was shot, police said. First responders found Linares with a gunshot wound to the head and rushed her to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Zane Jones, the slain woman’s husband, said he was driving her minivan when he flipped a car he was driving aggressively, trying to push her car off the road. “I looked at him when I did it, and I thought he was cheating on me too. But it turns out that he was holding the gun,” Jones told Fox 4 News. “He slowed down until we were like this, and he shot through my left rear window and hit my wife in the back of the head.”

The other driver, who police say was in a small, dark-colored, antique-looking car, fired at his minivan at least three times, Jones said. Jones quickly pulled off the road and called 911, but by the time paramedics arrived it was too late. Núñez Linares, originally from Guatemala, moved to the United States to marry Jones last year. “She was really happy. Truly truly happy living here. But it’s over, unfortunately, ”said her mother, Ana Linares, to the outlet. Her grieving husband hopes other drivers on the road have seen the situation better. He said that he wants his wife to be remembered as someone who was full of love. “She is the most innocent victim,” Jones said. “She is not just a woman who died on the road. She is exceptional. She is exceptional in every way.” Police are still looking for the person responsible for the shooting.
