Paddy Patrick Purcell, 32, a Pennsylvania man, was arrested after he allegedly broke into a neighbor’s home, jumped on the bed of a sleeping 9-year-old girl wearing only her underwear, and touched her inappropriately.
The young woman was startled when she awoke to find the semi-nude stranger lying next to her at her Bensalem home on Sunday, March 12, around 1 a.m., according to a police report obtained by the New York Post. The girl’s father found Purcell allegedly sitting on her daughter’s bed wrapped in a blanket after she ran to find her father, according to police.

The 9-year-old victim later told police that the suspect had “inappropriately touched her” while she was still sleeping. Purcell fled before police arrived, but was found in a nearby apartment a short time later. Purcell is believed to have broken into the house through an open door. The alleged suspect had left behind his jacket and keys with his name on them, giving them strong evidence to arrest him, according to court documents obtained by Action News. The girl’s father described Purcell to police as a white male with red hair and an Irish accent, making it much easier for police to identify. He also claims that neither he nor his daughter know the suspect and that he was a complete stranger. The 32-year-old convict was charged with robbery, burglary, and indecent assault on a child under 13 years of age. He is being held at the Bucks County Correctional Center on a $1 million bond.
