Victims of Louisville Bank Shooting
The LMPD later tweeted a photo of the injured officer, writing, “Officer Nickolas Wilt, a new officer to the LMPD, ran towards the gunfire today to save lives.” After being shot in the head, he is still in serious condition.” The photo appeared to depict him at his swearing-in ceremony, which he attended with the police chief and Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg.
Wilt was one of nine people hurt in the shooting. Tommy Elliott, 63, Jim Tutt, 64, Joshua Barrick, 40, and Juliana Farmer, 45, were among the four bank executives killed. According to CNN, Sturgeon discovered he was due to be fired from the bank and left a message for his parents and a friend describing his intention to perpetrate the shooting.
Deputy Police Chief Paul Humphrey previously stated that the responding officers’ actions undoubtedly saved lives. “This is a tragic occurrence,” he remarked. “However, it was the officers’ heroic response that ensured no more people were seriously injured than what happened.”
