Margaret Anne Lake, better known by her stage name Mystic Meg, was an astrologer (born on July 27, 1942), in Accrington and died on March 9, 2023, at the age of 80.
She was a well-known television figure in the 1990s, she appeared in the National Lottery and has written horoscopes for the Sun for more than two decades. According to the newspaper, Lake died in the early hours of Thursday after being admitted to the hospital last month after contracting the flu.

Her agent Dave Shapland said: “Without a doubt, she was Britain’s most famous astrologer by a million miles. No one reached out to Meg in that regard. Millions followed her in this country and around the world as well. It even became part of the English language: if you ask a politician, show business, or ordinary people on the street a tricky question, they’ll say ‘Who do you think I am, Mystic Meg?’
The editor of The Sun, Victoria Newton, said: “This is devastating news. We have lost an icon. For more than two decades, Mystic Meg has been a must-read column, cementing her as Britain’s most famous astrologer. She was a true professional whose guidance helped our readers on a daily basis; our correspondence is proof of that.” Lake was perhaps best known for presenting her Mystic Meg’s Predictions of hers in the National Lottery from 1994 to 2000, a 45-second reading during which she attempted to predict facts about the future lottery winner.
