Mohamed Ismail, a delivery driver was found dead in his car after “excessive use” of laughing gas, a coroner has heard. Mohamed Ismail, 33, was found dead in the back of his vehicle by a passerby in May this year.An inquest into his death heard an autopsy at Royal Bolton Hospital concluded that Mohammed died from lack of oxygen after “excessive use of nitrous oxide”. The gas, also known as NOS or laughing gas, has various commercial and medical uses, but is misused by some as a recreational substance. Julieann Hyde, a police forensic officer, said Mohammed was found in the back of his car by a passerby in May this year.

She told Bolton coroner Alan Walsh: ‘A passerby found Mr Ismail in the back of his car.”They yelled at Mr. Ismail and when he didn’t respond they called 999.”Dr Walsh sought comment from a GP, Greater Manchester Police and other services and adjourned the inquiry to 8 November.At the time of the incident, local councilor Safwaan Patel described the sadness and shock among the community.He said: ‘We are very saddened to hear about the incident in Halliwell Road today.’Our condolences to the family, we are praying for them at this time.”We are here if anyone wants to contact us about this incident or any other concerns.”An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, also described the situation as “sad and shocking”.They said, ‘It’s sad and shocking.There were a lot of police cars on Halliwell Road and I was wondering what had happened.”I asked around and someone told me and I thought how horrible it was for the family.”
