Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al Fayed died Wednesday, a day before the 26th anniversary of the Paris car crash that killed his son Dodi and Princess Diana, his family said Friday. He married Saudi journalist Samira Khashoggi in 1954, according to the UK Independent. Dodi was born a year later. He later founded a shipping company before meeting the former ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who hired him to help build the growing city. In the 1960s he moved to the United Kingdom and in 1979 he bought the Ritz Hotel in Paris, which he still owned at the time of his death. Earlier this year, his wealth was estimated at $2 billion, making him the 1,493rd richest person in the world.
