Friends pay tribute to local music artist killed in Wilkinsburg
Tomlinese’s death shocked his followers and loved ones. On May 27th, 2023, he was slain in a shooting in Wilkinsburg. Tomlinese was one of the victims in a late-night shooting on Franklin Avenue near Midland. Allegheny County police are still investigating the matter and haven’t made any arrests. Tomlinese died at the age of 48, leaving behind a wife, two children, and a musical legacy that will live on forever.
Though Tomlinese’s death is a huge loss for the music industry, his legacy will live on. His music was ageless and had a lasting impact on his fans and other musicians. He was a trailblazer who dismantled barriers and blurred the distinctions between musical genres. Tomlin’s music demonstrated how to use art to promote variety, love, and equality. Following his death, many musicians paid respect to Tomlinese, including Jay-Z, who called him a “true legend.”
