Michelle Hodgkinson, 51, who was stabbed to death in Droylsden, Manchester, on Friday, has been identified by police.
A 28-year-old guy has been detained on murder charges. The individual has subsequently been arrested under the Mental Health Act, according to police. In tribute to Ms. Hodgkinson, her family said: “Everyone who knows Michelle is in utter shock at the attack she endured and how horrific her last moments were. Our Shelly B was the most amazing, loving, selfless, and funny daughter, mother, mother-in-law, sister, auntie, and most recently a nanna. It was a privilege to have been known and loved by her. She loved helping people in her community and was known for volunteering as an appropriate adult, her charity work, and loved creating hampers to make people smile.
“She would be there for anyone and the day she was taken from us, she was doing just that – walking to meet her mum to take her shopping and to go for a coffee.”Our family and friends are heartbroken. Greater Manchester Police officers responded to allegations of a stabbing on Edge Lane in Droylsden at about 12pm on Friday and verified that Ms. Hodgkinson died at the scene. Her assailant left the scene but was apprehended later that evening. “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends, as well as the community who have been deeply affected by this incident,” Tameside District Commander Chief Superintendent Phil Davies said on Saturday.
“I understand that the nature of the incident will cause concern in our communities across Greater Manchester, not just in Tameside.” As a result, there will be a noticeable increase in the number of police officers in the area in the coming days, and anyone with concerns is encouraged to communicate with them.”
