Michael Hayes, 39, the victim – Police are looking for the man who killed a father outside a restaurant and wine bar on Wednesday night.
Michael Hayes died in hospital on Thursday after being struck by a single blow by another man he was conversing with as he exited the Destino Wine and Cocktail Bar in Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast in south-east Queensland.
Lynda Blanch, Mr. Hayes’ sister, tweeted a heartbreaking photo of herself holding Mr. Hayes’ hand in the hospital where he died on Thursday morning. ‘I’ll be 39 forever,’ she wrote. ‘Today is your lucky day, Little Brother. Now you can relax. We adore you. In our hearts forever. Justice will be done. ‘My Twin’. As word of Mr. Hayes’ death circulated on social media, condolences began to stream in.

One of them was from Hi-Octane Automotive Events creator Ryan Cobb, who congratulated Mr. Hayes on his accomplishments as a fellow car lover. ‘Take it easy, big fella. ‘Always happy, always smiling, and always willing to help,’ Mr Cobb wrote. ‘Today, the world lost a legend. ‘Fly high with the other legends that died too soon.’ Becky Flint, a family friend, claimed she was ‘devastated’ by the news. ‘I’m in tears as I read this,’ she said. ‘I will be reflecting back today on all our pleasant days together. ‘I still have all the small trinkets Michael gave me back in the good old pony club days,’ she says.
As they search for the offender, police are asking witnesses and anybody with dashcam footage from the Sanctuary Cove and Hope Island regions between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday to come forward. The culprit is characterized as Caucasian, between the ages of 20 and 30, with short, dark hair. He was dressed in dark tracksuit trousers and a dark shirt, with a backpack slung over his shoulder. The man rode his motorbike away from the scene.
