Melvin Alain Cintron, 37, was caught on camera setting his cousin and lover’s Jaguar XE sedan on fire outside a home in North Miami on April 29, according to an arrest report obtained by Local 10. Investigators determined the sedan belonged to Cintron’s girlfriend, but were unable to interview her until Monday, the station reported. He initially said his car caught fire while he was driving home because he was afraid of what Cintron would do if he told police the truth, according to the report. Every time she talked to investigators about what happened to her car, her boyfriend forced her to put the phone on speaker.

When she was finally able to speak freely, she told the officers that she fears Cintron because he regularly carries a fully automatic pistol with a high-capacity double-drum magazine and even has a nickname for his drums. Cintron reportedly calls the two round drums on the sides of the magazine the âtââsâ of the gun, the report states. The unnamed woman also told police that her alleged arsonist boyfriend stole her purse and left her with no way home from a Miami shopping center on Friday. Cintron reportedly became jealous when he thought a waiter was flirting with his cousin and the two argued before he snatched her purse, which contained $1,200 in cash, police said. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Cintron, of Hollywood, Florida, on Monday and he was arrested at gunpoint on Wednesday. He has been charged with second-degree arson and third-degree grand larceny and is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on $12,500 bail, Local10 reported.
