Police are looking for 17-year-old Mayik Atem in connection with the deadly stabbing of teenager Pasawm Lyhym, 16, last week in Sunshine, in Melbourne’s west.
Pasawm, 16, was stabbed on May 18 following an incident between two groups at Sunshine Place. Paramedics attended to him, but he died at the site. Another 16-year-old Sunshine North resident was rushed to the hospital with minor injuries. Police are hunting for Mayik Atem, a Hillside teenager who has not returned home since Friday. He is characterized as being between 185 and 190cm tall, with a thin body and dreadlocked black hair.
According to Detective Inspector Dean Thomas, authorities will charge Mr. Atem with being “a significant player” in last week’s stabbing. He warned anyone discovered harboring the suspect of criminal prosecution and urged the adolescent to give himself into authorities. “If you are harboring or assisting Atem to avoid speaking to police, they may find themselves subject to accessory to this murder,” he stated. “We don’t know if Atem is armed, but please do not approach him if you see him.”

According to police, the incident involved groups from many schools, and they are concerned about retaliatory violence.
