Matthew Woodward, A father who sold his BMW car and switched to a motorcycle to help cover his mounting mortgage bills, died while driving it home from work.
Matthew Woodward, 33, was driving home from his job as a heavy-duty driver when the motorcycle collided with a car just before 5 a.m. on the A48 road in south Wales, near the village of Bonvilston.
Both Mr. Woodward and the driver of the car were killed in the horrific accident on Friday morning. His friends said that he had been concerned about his cost of living when he decided to trade his car for the bicycle because it was less expensive to drive, just weeks before his death.

Mr Woodward tribute to the “kind and good-hearted” man who leaves behind a three-year-old daughter and fiancée. Friend Oscar Jenkins, 33, paid tribute to Mr Woodward, known as “Woody”, when they started a fundraising drive. in memory of him. He said: ‘He was talking about the cost of living and how he was thinking of giving up being a trucker and becoming a train conductor.
‘A week or two earlier he had sold his BMW because mortgage rates had gone up too much. “Woody was the kindest, kindest-hearted person and it’s not just me saying that as a good friend. “He was very soft-spoken and sensitive without a bad bone in his body.”
He said Matthew, who was from Shrewsbury, met Lauren at university and moved to Barry, South Wales, to be close to her family. Shrewsbury whenever possible. Oscar said that he had last seen Matthew four days before his death. He said: ‘Her fiancée of hers had arranged by sheer chance to have her eyebrows done in the area, so she turned up to see us on Monday.
“It had been my birthday a couple of weeks earlier and Woody hadn’t been able to make it, so he ordered curries to go, brought four or five beers and said, ‘This is for missing your birthday.'” “We sat down and he was lovely. Looking back, it’s so amazing that we got to see it for the last time.”
