Matt Pobereyko, a former MLB minor league pitcher, has died at age 31 after suffering a heart attack at his Chicago home.

The former New York Mets, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Miami Marlins pitcher played in Mexico this month, and his family described him as “perfectly healthy” after his death. Pobereyko was found by his girlfriend at his apartment in Wheaton, near Chicago, according to NBC News.

The pitcher had last played earlier this month in the Caribbean World Series in Venezuela, and his family revealed that he still harbored ambitions to play at a higher level after impressing in his most recent stint.
