Martin Suter, a 66-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 71-year-old woman who died after allegedly being assaulted in a cemetery.
Ann Blackwood, 71, of Lee-on-The-Socent, was found fatally injured in the Crofton cemetery in Stubbington on Monday. Mr. Suter of Portsmouth Road in Lee-on-The-Socent has been accused of his murder. In a tribute published by the Police, his family said they were devastated by his death. The statement said: “His daughter, his brothers, his family, and all his friends are absolutely devastated by the loss of Ann Blackwood. A loving mother and friend, affectionate and good heart that was very popular in her local community, was enjoying her retirement with an active lifestyle that included tennis, navigation, cycling, and music.”

Martin Suter Arrested: Suspect in the Murder of Ann Blackwood
The officers were called to the Crofton cemetery, in front of Lychgate Green, shortly after 15:45 BST on Monday. According to Hampshire Constabulary, Mrs. Blackwood was declared dead shortly after despite the medical treatment on the scene. Mr. Suter appeared before in the Portsmouth Magistrates Court. He was sent into custody to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Friday.
