Markell Jackson, full name Markell B. Jackson, was an 18-year-old LaGrange High School student. He was a very polite, true, and genuine student who always gave his all in all he did. Jackson played safety for LaGrange High School’s football team and center for the basketball team.
On Wednesday evening, May 24, 2023, Markell B. Jackson, 18, was involved in a shooting in the 2400 block of Fourth Avenue in Lake Charles. The incident happened precisely four days after he graduated from LaGrange High School, which was one of his proudest moments.

Warrant issued for Lake Charles teen in fatal Huber Park shooting
“Deputies were dispatched to the park in the 2400 block of 4th Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, about shots fired,” said Kayla Vincent of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. The witness who called 911 to report the incident heard multiple bullets fired and saw a white automobile leave the scene.”The victim of this incident was Markell Jackson, an 18-year-old student who graduated from LaGrange High School four days previously, on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Following the shooting, he was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound and died as a result of his injuries.
Following the tragic news of Jackson’s death, LaGrange High School shared its grief on social media. The school also stated that its counseling staff will be available to any kid who needed assistance with the grieving process. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking for Demontoriyuana Charles, 18 after a warrant was issued for his involvement in the Huber Park shooting. Anyone with knowledge regarding the accused’s whereabouts is asked to contact police at (337) 491-3605. They have also stated that anyone discovered assisting the accused will face criminal charges.
