Mark Anthony Gonzales, 26, was arrested Monday at his home in Atwater, California, after being linked to the crime by “forensic techniques,” according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.He is accused of entering ground-floor rooms at a luxury Lake Tahoe, Nevada resort through unlocked screen doors on two separate occasions in early July. On both occasions, the women reported waking up to a person at the foot of his bed, who ran away, according to the sheriff’s office. Gonzales was already known to local police and was a suspect in numerous crimes, including “stealing women’s shoes, breaking and entering, and sexual self-gratification” during some of these incidents.The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said it appeared his crimes were increasing in severity.Gonzales was charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of assault and is being held in the Merced County Jail on $50,000 bond, but will be extradited to Douglas County, Nevada.
