Marikit “Kitchie” Laurico passed away at the age of 47. She had worked with the five-division world champion for much of his 25-year boxing career. Reports in The Sun suggest that Laurico had felt “unwell” during a recent trip to Dubai before her death. They also cite reports that her cause of death may have been a heart attack, although this is currently unconfirmed. A statement posted on Laurico’s Instagram account by her siblings and parents on Sunday revealed that she died on Friday, March 31. On March 31, 2023, our shining star, Kitchie, stripped off her physical clothing…the angels of Your loving-kindness successively descended upon her and ascended her into the spirit world. We thank all of you who have reciprocated genuine love and positive energy with her. We are grateful for her patience and for respecting our privacy. Mayweather’s daughter paid an emotional tribute to her father’s assistant on social media. She was like, ‘This doesn’t feel real… my heart is so heavy. You were more than my dad’s assistant, you were family. You were the definition of someone with a good heart, always cheering people up and making them feel good about themselves. There is no one as you will truly be missed, I will love you forever.’
Mayweather’s partner, Melissa Brim, also shared her condolences, posting on Instagram: “Just wanted to say how broken my heart is right now.” You were definitely a blessing in my life and my family’s as well. We were sitting in the front row last weekend laughing and talking about how blessed we were. I think about how much I’m going to miss you. I will cherish all the memories I have of you forever! Everyone you knew loved you and I am praying for your family. You were my partner on the court, in the ring, and in the photos! I love you and God bless you.’ Mayweather has yet to comment on her passing.
