Magnus White Wiki – Magnus White Biography

Magnus White, a 17-year-old ‘rising star’ of American cycling who was scheduled to compete in the upcoming world championships, died on Saturday after being struck by a vehicle while training near his home in Boulder, Colorado.

Magnus White was struck from behind by a 23-year-old woman behind the wheel of a Toyota Matrix shortly after 12:30 p.m. m. of Saturday. Who was Magnus White?

White was a rising multi-discipline star, winning the Junior Cyclo-Cross National Championship 17-18 in 2021 and earning a spot on the US national team, calling it a “pivotal moment” as it provided opportunities for him to compete in Europe. He then competed with the US national cycling team for a full season of European cyclocross racing and closed out the year at the 2022 UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Arkansas. He was chosen to represent the USA again at this year’s cyclocross world championships in the Netherlands and this summer he earned a spot on the Mountain Bike World Championship team. White began this season to dabble in road cycling and mountain biking. He had been concentrating on his final preparations before he left for Glasgow in Scotland to compete in the Junior Men’s Mountain Bike Cross-Country World Championships on August 10.

White was on one of his last training trips when the accident occurred weeks before he was due to start his senior year at high school. White began competing at the national level when he was 10 years old and credited his father with introducing him to the sport. “When I was a kid my dad really got me into cycling because I was racing road, then I discovered my local team (Boulder Junior Cycling) which has some really great coaches who got me to where I am today,” White said on his profile on the USA Cycling website. “In the summer of 2023, I am ready to embark on an exciting new chapter of my cycling career: a debut on the international mountain bike racing circuit, proudly wearing a Team USA jersey,” he wrote.
