Logan Hutchings and Sophia Kelly, an Illinois couple charged with murder after their 3-month-old son was found dead with rib and skull fractures. In a statement released on Wednesday, the Illinois State Police (ISP) stated Pinckneyville residents Logan Hutchings, 21, and Sophia, 21, had both been detained and were being held on first-degree murder charges. The infant who passed away was identified as Ocean Wayne Hutchings in an obituary posted by Pyatt Funeral Home.

The child was taken to a hospital with several rib fractures and a skull
On June 12, 2022, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the Pinckneyville Police Department informed the ISP about the infant’s wounds. According to an ISP statement, the three-month-old was taken to a children’s hospital in St. Louis with several rib fractures and a skull fracture. On June 14, the hospital’s medical personnel declared the little boy died as a result of these wounds. Before being admitted to the hospital, he was under the care of Hutchings and Kelly in Pinckneyville, according to a police statement. On Tuesday, the States Attorneys Appellate Prosecutors office filed three First-Degree Murder charges against each parent.
ISP agents detained Hutchings and Kelly, who were then brought to the Washington County Jail with a $1 million bond.
